My Interview With ‘The Road Ahead’

The Road Ahead is a great blog about young people who’ve been successful after failing spectacularly in traditional education.  The other day Nabillah interviewed me and now it’s online for you to read.

“I’m not the best speaker but with films you can spend as long as you want crafting a message so intricately so that it perfectly gets across what you’re trying to say, as a director that’s really a beautiful thing for me.”

There’s a text transcript online now, and I think there might be a recording coming online soon.  Check out their blog and click on all of their stuff.  You’ll notice too, that every time someone points a camera at me I pull a funny face.  This is an instinctive reaction, and doctors say there’s nothing they can do for me.

Great Doc – Undercity on Vimeo

In GTA it’s popular to try and explore and get into places where you’re not supposed to be – subway tunnels, rooftop, etc.  This guy does it in real life.  Shot by one guy with a 5Dii and Canon’s 24mm/1.4, this is a totally engrossing film, nerve-wracking to watch.

The film follows an Urban Explorer going to all of the places in New York City that you’re not supposed to go to, abandoned subway stations, underground Amtrak railroads, and in the breathtaking finale, to the top of a bridge in front of the city skyline at night. It’s a beautiful film, and you need to watch it.
